Trains, plains and silver nail polish!
posted 30.09.2008The Eurostar was a disaster yesterday morning. I was shunted off the 8.30 am train onto a 9.01 and then I was shunted off that one too! Humph. Finally got a seat on the 9.30 am and just as I heaved my weary little self onto the platform (no baggage restrictions equals mass over packing by all) I heard somebody who works on a rival title shout my name as I almost boarded the train to Brussels. Now that would have been such a bad look.
After lots of delays, Team ELLE still made it to the Dior show and boy are we glad we did! It was Alaia meets an early George Michael video – and we loved it (see the pics and watch the video here). The Supers wore swingy sexy little dresses and teetered along the catwalk in the highest heels Dior had made for some seasons. The hair was very Naomi meets Linda in an early Gianni Versace show, all scraped back in an Egyptian topknot. Jeremy Healy never fails to move me musically, he does the music for the Dior show as he and John Galliano are old clubbing pals from back in the day. I too was a fan when he used to play at clubs in the 90s but the music he creates for Dior is beyond pumping house, it’s so moving and magical. Speaking of being moved, I am ashamed to say I audibly yelped when I opened up the gift that was on my seat at the show. So uncool, quite unnecessary too, it was loud enough for the row behind to comment. Inside the little Dior bag, which was tied beautifully with Dior ribbon, was a little Dior box containing a little Dior powder compact encrusted with crystals, (I’ll stop the Dior bit now, you get the picture) a black nail polish, a silver one (which I’m wearing on my paws now), and a mascara that promises lashes worthy of the catwalk.
Later on I popped in to say hi to Derek Lam who showed his collection in the intimate surroundings of Les Arts Decoratifs on the Rue de Rivoli which is just behind the Louvre. It was a lovely way to show his collection, I’ve decided to attach some pictures it was so good.

I’m off to one on my favourite shows tonight, Jean Paul Gaultier. A few seasons ago I committed the ultimate fashion faux pas by wearing a cream and navy striped top to the show with jeans. I mean please, EVERYONE knows that’s the staff uniform at the show, I couldn’t believe how many people asked me to help them to their seats. How very dare they, don’t you know who I am…actually thinking about it, none of you do! A Bientot! x

Silver nail polish is so underated.
I think if you find the right brand it can look very elegant.
