So, of course fashion week is all about spotting new trends, and predicting the next big thing. But while all eyes are focused on the catwalk, I have to admit I’m also obsessed with what everyone is wearing off the runway.

And despite it being 80 degrees and floaty sun dress weather – and there are some of those about – the order of the day in NYC is the new season’s essential piece – trousers.

Cropped, peg leg, tapered, harem whichever incarnation, the fashion pack’s M.O. remains the same.

Here’s the new fashion equation.

Black, high waisted trousers + something tucked in (usually a tissue fine white tee) + cropped jacket, sky-high statement, gladiatorial, killer heels (the strappier the better) + three or four stacked cuffs and or chunky gold or silver bracelets = Manhattan’s chicest look right now.
