Roger, over and out

posted 25.09.2009

Last night after Prada’s brilliant show we popped backstage to congratulate Mrs Prada - whom I have never met. Shaking her hand could have been the high point of my day. But something topped it! What I hear you ask?

Roger Federer and his wife at Prada

Roger Federer of course. And not just spotting him front row at Armani and Prada, but because queuing for Prada he got so close to me we actually touched. Only for a second- but that was enough. Touching two superstars in one day. That’s Milan!

When in Milan…

Arrived in Milan last night for fashion week and have left adaptor at home. Can’t switch on laptop, charge blackberry or operate GHD’s (I’ve gone polished for Milan-you have to really!!!) Anyway luckily my sister lives in Milan so have hot footed it to her house today to borrow an adaptor.

She lives in Navigli- Milan’s answer to Little Venice. She insists we pop to new shop she has found- a hidden gem you would never notice unless you knew it was there. Ennji is the owner of this self titled boutique. She is Korean and ships unique one off pieces from there to Milan, customising some before they hit the shop floor.

Sis has alteady snagged a pink sweatshirt with epaullettes and chain details that pays homage to the late great Michael Jackson. I have to have it- in charcoal grey.  I also spot a flesh leather studded cuff (a bit of next seasons fave new colour now) . And  a leopard print tee that I love. I only had 10mins to decide so bought all three and have just left wearing my new animal print tee and cuff. Well when in Milan…..

Check the ELLE team blog tomorrow to see my new buys.

D.I.Y. Alexa’s style

Loved Alexa’s shirt at the Inglorious Basterds permiere in NYC last night.

Studs appear everywhere this season - but you don’t need a Balmain budget to get the look.

Stud  your collar yourself with silver studs found at lots of haberdashery shops and departments right now - like these from Kleins - Click here now

Our advice is to make a small hole first - then slip the stud in and fix it at the back.

You’ll also probably need to firm up your collar if you want to do this to a shirt like Alexa’s - use iron-on interfacing for this. Or make your collar detachable so that you can put the shirt in the wash without worrying about the studs.

Alternatively stud a denim jacket or blazer collar - those don’t go in the washing machine!
