Outdone by the boys
posted 18.09.2008Unless you’ve been living under a rock since Sunday you’ll have noticed by now that it’s London Fashion Week. The main purpose, of course, is to see the new collections, but bearing in mind that there’s about 10 shows a day, each of which lasts about ten minutes, there’s an awful lot of time to fill away from the catwalk. And what is the favourite activity of your average fashionista? Eyeing up what everyone else is wearing, of course.
Whether they’re channeling all the hottest trends or forging their own individual style path, dripping in Chanel or dressed head to toe in vintage, the girls have been putting the effort in its true. But it’s fair to say that it has been the boys who have really been pushing the boat out. We’ve seen it all - men in skirts (taking their tips from Marc Jacobs perhaps), skin-tight leather shorts done up only half way, brightly coloured kaftans, a shaved head covered in Swarovski crystals, extravagant wigs and even a very stylish boy wearing the much sought-after Balenciaga moulded floral top. Frankly my wardrobe is beginning to seem very inferior - the men are putting us all to shame…
