I met with the multi-talented singer-songwriter Remi Nicole yesterday in Covent Garden. Exuding laid-back cool, dressed in high-waisted peg leg jeans, a pale pink vest and black converse boots, I discovered the tricks she uses to keep her beauty routine simple.

Everyone needs this little guy
Wherever I am, whether I’m travelling or at home, I have to have my pot of Aloe Vera Vaseline close to hand. It’s a must.

Feet are gross
I make sure I always have regular pedicures, I love having my feet massaged, actually I really like massages in general.

Department stores are great for makeovers
I have been known to head into stores for a makeover before a night out and yes sometimes I have no intention of buying the make-up!

Mix and match hairdressers
There are two hairdressers I swear by so I can always get appointments. One in Dalston and then also Elliot Bute at Daniel Hersheson on Conduit Street, I went to Drama School with his daughter Lauren so I’ve been going there for years. I normally just have a trim, but when it comes to blow dries I love volume.

Make beauty discoveries
I discovered Hair & Body Butter, £30 from Amazonia Organics, it has no chemicals and is fair-trade. I’m hooked. It’s fantastic as a hair conditioner, but I also use it as a finishing product, I like wearing my hair flicked and this helps it stay in place. Plus, you can use it as a body moisturiser too.

Be loyal to good products, but don’t be afraid to experiment
I love foundation from Mac it gives great coverage, but I ran out the other day, I was near a John Lewis and discovered Bobbi Brown foundation and they are just as good. YSL Volume Effet Mascara, £23 is another favourite.

Find products for lazy days
My beauty routine is so low maintenance; I like anything easy and lazy. Jelly Pong Pong’s Supermodel Stain in Giggle and Pop, £15 works on cheeks and lips and I can apply it on the go, it’s that simple.

Find out new tricks
I only started using make-up at nineteen-years-old. I’ve learnt a lot from make-up artists along the way, one told me to fill in my brows with pencil. It really makes my eyes stand out.

Chanel the beauty classic
I love Chanel. When I was 16 my boyfriend’s mum always wore Chanel Allure, from £70 and she was so glamorous, it’s my first real beauty memory and it’s such a classic fragrance.

Wear make-up that feels comfortable
Boys are always telling girls they look better with less make-up on, which is good for me as I don’t feel comfortable if I’m really made up.
